British cheerleaders accused by the "n" sigma !

One of the two black British cheerleaders, who were allegedly prevented from performing at an Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket match last month, says they were called by the “N word”, a tabloid newspaper reported Thursday.
A number of British newspapers Thursday carried the story about dancers Ellesha Newton, 22, and Sherinne Anderson, 25, claiming they were stopped from going on stage by organisers ahead of a match involving Kings XI Punjab in Mohali.
Newton told The Sun newspaper: “An organiser pulled us away. He said the people here don’t want to see dark people.
“The ‘n’ word was used and they said they only wanted beautiful white girls. We were crying. I could understand if it were the crowd but they were very receptive.”
Anderson, 25, added: “This kind of thing has never happened to us - not in Europe, not here, nowhere.
“We were offended. This shouldn’t be happening - especially after they made such a fuss over Big Brother.”
British celebrity Jade Goody was accused of making racist remarks about Indian film actress Shilpa Shetty in the reality show Celebrity Big Brother last year, causing outrage in India.
Organisers Wizcraft International Entertainment deny any knowledge of the incident.
A spokesman for Wizcraft said: “Our employees are trained to deal with our international clients. If there had been any racial discrimination, I would have received a complaint. But I know nothing of it.”
The girls had been hired by Fierce Performance Productions which has offices in London and Mumbai.
Director Jorge Aldana said the girls were eventually allowed to take part as cheerleaders after he intervened with the local officials.

"Rann" Ran into Controversy

The “Rann” controversy, whereby the title song of the movie is a modified version of the national anthem, has the censor board up in arms.

Ram Gopal Verma said at the unveiling of the first look of Rann, “I have not tinkered with the national anthem. Tinkering would be if I would have shown it in bad light. I haven’t done anything of this sort, and if faced with problems later, I shall see to it”
Since the national anthem is an integral part of the Indian Constitution, verma being well aware of that, might use it as a ploy for some cheap publicity


Before the censor board came out with its views on the national anthem controversy,
Amitabh Bacchan, who plays a lead role in Rann, was quoted saying that he had full faith in the producers of Rann, that they would have taken the requisite legal permission to change the national anthem.

Riteish Deshmukh, who plays an investigative journalist said that the Rann title track talks about the disputes in the country, and had no intensions to ridicule anything.

Rann revolves around the nexus between the Indian media and centres of power and how it is driven purely by business rather than any moral compulsion to report the truth. It features the working behind a news channel whereby a reporter is torn between ethics, morals and self-consciousness on one side and the financial, business driven, TRP enriched ‘survival’ of the channel on the other end.

How irresponsibly brutal can the youth become?A first year fresher in a medical college in himachal was mercilessly bashed in the process of 'ragging' by four seniors today, which caused him death!But unfortunately some still believe it as "harmless fun'. Such sweep of savagery should prompt us to recognize the enormity of physical, emotional and mental threat that an individual can go through in the process of 'ragging' .Ragging, is one of the burning issues plaguing our institutions.

There should be a complete ban on such practices.It usually happens in an avenge from the seniors ,thus continuing the malaise.Ragging causes plummentation of self confidence among the victims. It should rather be seen as a social evil in the society.
